Hey for all you guys that spray with the acrylic pump please don’t forget to winterize your machine. Taking some care at the end of the season can save you a lot of money in the spring. Here are some tips for taking care of your acrylic spray unit at the end of the season:

  1. First Push all your old acrylic sealer out of your unit with water. Make sure when you do this all the fluid is running close to water as it is coming out of the pump and hose.
  2. Go grab some plummers anti freeze and take the suction line off of the tank and put it in the jug of anti freeze. You will need a full big bottle. Take the return line off and keep it out of the anti freeze.
  3. Start the engine and run it till in primes and once the water is out of the pump and it starts flowing plummers anti freeze then you can put it into the jug and start pushing the plummers anti freeze through the hose and gun. I would take the tip out so that the process is faster. Once you have the plummers anti freeze through the hose your job with the unit is done.
  4. Last some people clean the tank right out and pour some more of the plummers anti freeze into the bottom of the tank just in case.

And that is how your Acrylic Spray Unit is winterized for the season. If you keep your unit where it doesn’t freeze this process is obviously not required. Hope this helps.
